A prospective study to estimate the outcome of patellar fracture fixation with suture material of high resistance properties

Background: Patella fractures make from 0.5% to 1.5% of all bone fractures. The most common fracture type, transverse fracture, impairs knee extension mechanics due fragment displacement. In the years that followed, newer procedures were pursued in order alleviate aforementioned difficulties. K-wires successfully replaced with cannulated screws. Furthermore, cerclage wiring was alternative implants without jeopardising figure-of-eight tension band build. Methods: A prospective study conducted over a period 18 months evaluate outcome patellar fixation techniques and sutures. had 35 participants. Results: This included patients age group 21-77 years. Among total study, Maximum number our range 41-60 which comprised 42.86%. this patients, 20 male 15 female i.e. 57.14% while 42.86% patients. Conclusions: above clearly demonstrates high resistance suture materials can be used as potential or may even better existing prevalent patella stainless steel wires. Fibertape presents lot advantages traditional wire fixation. Biomechanically, fibertape has demonstrated tensile strength stiffness equal certain specific parameters proved more stronger than steel.
